Joe is the forgotten child of an
overly-blessed family,
taken for granted
passed over
unannounced
He is overshadowed by his younger brother,
who is sweetly capped
with a head of
beautiful
whiteness
of no substance
or worth.
But not Joe,
whose aspirations end
where he does
Or his older brother
smaller, stronger,
more refined? Better known?
Perhaps.
But of no consequence to Joe,
whose strength is just enough,
size determined by the world around him.
But sometimes
if Joe is too dark or bitter
I might just take him, too,
with a shot of whiteness
in the morning.
