Drowning in the sky
The dark twinkling of space
A river of tears meets your ears
Before falling from your face
The crashing waves wash over you
You’re blind, and deaf, and dumb
You’ll never know where you’re to go
Or where you’ve really come from

The only light is moth-bitten holes
In the tapestry of the sky
They have no say and show no way
As you lie there asking “Why?”
And should it be that you feel small
And you’re waiting for a spark
You’ll gain no ground by lying around
You’ll always be in the dark

There’s nothing more that I can be
The starlight makes me blind
The pounding wave’s a watery grave
For the fire of my mind
Ushering me further than I’ve yet been
Taking, embracing me, cold
Promising more than there was before
Begging for me to break hold

I willingly go into the fold
I don’t put up a fight
The watery kiss is simply bliss
As I fade into the night
And here it is! I’ve finally found
What it is that I’ve searched for:
The starry night, so deep and bright
Is closest on the sea floor
